After two days of downpours, Saturday afternoon 26th October 2019 saw Chesterfield’s roads congested due to a major road closure. Horns Bridge had flooded, so while the rain continued to lash down, havoc hit the town centre.
A few miles away though at Loundsley Green Community Centre, there was an abundance of sunshine in the hall. My recently registered charitable organisation ACV Foundation CIC hosted its first event.
Over thirty children and their parents/carers enjoyed a Halloween party with a fabulous finger buffet (including no meat finger hot dogs, inclusive of almond fingernail). A huge thank you to Summa from Nooch Vistro in Matlock Bath for the amazing food!
Everyone was issued with their own Halloween costume to keep, before being thoroughly entertained by Tom-tastic and Happy Henry from DNA Kids. Their Spook-tacular Monster Party was incredible. Thank you to Tesco Extra, Lockoford Lane for supplying the majority of the Halloween costumes.
After a fabulous two hours of dancing, games, snow and bubbles, the children went home with a reading book and a bag of sweeties. A massive thank you to Swizzels for the abundance of sweets they donated for the event.
My personal thanks also go to ACV Foundation’s wonderful team of volunteers, Jean, Marie and Margaret. A special thank you to Diane, who has gone over the call of duty helping with fundraising, raffle prizes and wardrobe management.
On the 21st December, we will be back at Loundsley Green Community Centre with our Christmas party. We already have 29 children signed up for this. If you feel you can help in any way, either by a small donation into ACV’s PayPal account, or we are asking for children’s Christmas gifts (age range 3 – 12 yrs approx), Christmas decorations, Carol singers and a Santa Claus. To make a donation please follow the link below, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss further. Thank you in advance of your help. XX
